The Rodrigo Parejo Quartet has two distinct settings: one in Europe and another in Indonesia. The ensemble features Indonesian artists such as Sri Hanuraga (Yo-Yo Ma, Peter Bernstein), Kevin Yosua (Alex Sipiagin), and Elfa Zulham (Dira Sugandi), with whom Rodrigo has recently recorded part of his latest album "Nomads" at the Salihara Theater studios in Jakarta, Indonesia.
In Europe, the quartet includes musicians like Michal Vanoucek (Deloitte Jazz Awards as Best Soloist of the Year 2008 in Holland), double bassist Pablo Báez (who has participated in significant Flamenco and Jazz projects such as the "Huellas XL Big Band" project led by Flamenco and Jazz icon Jorge Pardo, and has worked with artists like El Guadiana, Montse Cortés, and Pepe Habichuela). Other members include multi-instrumentalist and talented Extremaduran Juanlu García (Perico Sambeat, Rita Payés), the gifted drummer Pier Bruera (Roman Filiú), and the creative female drummer Lucía Martínez.
The music of the Rodrigo Parejo Quartet has been showcased at international festivals and theaters, including: 'Ngayogjazz' Festival (Indonesia), Publika Jazz Festival (Malaysia), Spui Theater (Holland), Assejazz at the Centro Andaluz of Contemporary Art (Seville) or Ubud Jazz Village Festival (Bali, Indonesia), among other notable venues.

SRI HANURAGA
Sri Hanuraga is an accomplished composer, pianist, and educator from Indonesia whose work delves into the interplay of multiple modernities and digital humanities. He strives to expand the boundaries of jazz improvisation by integrating the rich tradition of Javanese gender and examining how contemporary digital technologies influence our perception of music. In addition to leading his own innovative projects, Hanuraga has collaborated with numerous distinguished artists across a wide range of musical genres and artistic disciplines. His contributions to jazz include performances and recordings with luminaries such as Keyon Harrold, Leonardo Amuedo, Harvey Mason, Alex Sipiagin, Peter Bernstein, and Perico Sambeat. Within Indonesia’s vibrant music scene, he has worked alongside renowned pop and rock icons like Glenn Fredly, Tompi, Tohpati, Dewa Budjana, Dira Sugandi, Monita Tahalea, Barasuara, and Scaller, among others. Hanuraga’s creative versatility extends beyond music to multidisciplinary collaborations, partnering with prominent artists such as Goenawan Mohamad, Melati Suryodarmo, and Hanafi, composing for dance, poetry, theater, visual arts, and installations.
His works have garnered numerous prestigious accolades, including the “Indonesian Young Talent Award” (Java Jazz Festival 2011), the recognition of his second album, “To The Universe,” as album of the year by JGTC Festival, Tempo Magazine and bee Hype. He has also received five AMI awards accros various categories: Best Jazz Instrumental Artist (2016), Best Jazz Album (2019), Best Electronic Music (2020), Best Contemporary Jazz Artist (2022), and Best Jazz Artist (2024).
Since 2015, Sri Hanuraga has served as the head of the Jazz and Pop Performance concentration at the UPH Conservatory. In addition to his academic contributions, he has showcased his talents through performances across numerous countries in Asia and Europe.
KEVIN YOSUA
Kevin Yosua Born in Cirebon on October 13, 1990, Kevin Yosua began playing the electric bass in secondary school. He studied at the Conservatory of Music at Pelita Harapan University in Jakarta, Indonesia, to obtain his bachelor's degree. In his third year, he developed a passion for learning the double bass. As a very talented bassist, Kevin participated in various jazz group competitions during his studies and won most of them, such as the Indonesian Open Jazz Festival 2009, Jazz Goes to Campus 2009, Black Cat Jazz Competition 2010, etc. Yosua constantly seeks opportunities to learn from great jazz musicians like Oscar Stagnaro, Roberto Badoglio, Damian Erskine, Marius Beets, Kris Goessens, Marcel Serierse, and others.
Kevin Yosua has participated in many jazz festivals in Indonesia and abroad. He has produced several albums with Nial Djuliarso, including “Blues for Willarene” and “Up There”; another album with Hemiola Quartet called "Oddventure"; and in 2014, Kevin composed and arranged his original songs and recorded his first album "Contradiction" with Sri Hanuraga, Robert Mulyarahardja, and Deska Anugrah. Kevin Yosua also received a full scholarship to attend the Master's program at the Prince Claus Conservatory in the Netherlands. He studied with great jazz musicians such as David Wong, Clovis Nicholas, Antonio Hart, and many more.
He has several albums to his name, the latest featuring the great trumpeter Alex Sipiagin. This year, he recorded a new project with Dado Moroni on piano and Joost van Schaik on drums.
ELFA ZULHAM
Elfa Zulham (EZ) is a native Indonesian drummer who has made his mark in different parts of the world. His unique drumming style is distinctive and brings new colors to the music scene, especially in Indonesia. He started playing drums at the age of 8 when his father bought him a drum set for his birthday. EZ was born in Makassar (Indonesia) in 1981 and grew up in Jakarta. In 2006, EZ began his studies in Jazz and Contemporary Music at the Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen (Netherlands) and spent a year on an exchange program at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2009.
In 2011, he decided to continue his musical career in Indonesia. As the drummer of his own bands, such as Elfa Zulham Quartet, Elfa Zulham & The Beatz Messengers, Tomorrow People Ensemble, The Jongens Quartet, and Batavia Collective, he also became a supporting drummer for many bands and projects in Indonesia, including Joey Alexander, Sri Hanuraga, Dewa Budjana, Addie MS, Indra Lesmana, Rega Dauna, Indra Aziz, and served as the musical director for Dira Sugandi. In addition to working as a performer, educator, and music producer, he is also the owner of the music label Azura Records and the program coordinator of the Java Jazz Festival, one of the largest jazz music festivals in the world.
He had studied jazz drumming with Aksan Sjuman, Steve Altenberg, Joost Van Schaik, Owen Hart Jr, and Ralph Peterson Jr., and received lessons from Ari Hoenig, Ali Jackson, Greg Hutchinson, Gene Jackson, and Willie Jones III.
