BIOGRAPHIES
RIANTO (dance)
Kaliori Village (Banyumas, Indonesia). Trained in classical Javanese dance and Central Javanese folk dance, specialized in the cross gender form of Lengger. Rianto has been based between Indonesia and Tokyo since 2003 where he founded the Classical Javanese dance company Dewandaru Dance Company to introduce Javanese performing arts to Japan. He has worked with a spectrum of international choreographers, performance makers and companies whilst remaining dedicated to his training and own voice for contemporary Javanese performing arts. He has performed extensively around the world working in projects with: Akram Khan, his acclaimed solo work SoftMachine under the direction of Choy Ka Fai, Korean choreographer Sen Hea Ha, The Chen Shi Zheng’s Opera at Schubert Theatre, Japanese dance company Pappa TARAHUMARA. Rianto is dedicated to supporting the form of Lengger and greater artistic communities of Banyumas. Currently, he embarks on a new research phase into the cross gender traditions and transgender performance across the Indonesian archipelago.
RODRIGO PAREJO (flutes, compositions, keys)
Multifaceted Spanish jazz musician, improviser, composer, researcher and educator. Based between The Netherlands and Southeast Asia. He has worked in the fields of Jazz, World, Contemporary Dance and Experimental Improvised Music between Europe, Asia and US, performing from solo performances to explosive free-jazz orchestras, contemporary ensembles, ethnic music, flamenco dance, contemporary dance.He worked with renowned international artists as:Phil Woods, Norma Winstone, London Improvisers Orchestra, Royal Improvisers Orchestra, The Hague Ethospheric Orchestra, Hank Bennink, Michael Moore, Phil Minton, Steve Beresford, Alex Sipiagin,Lazara López Cachao, appearing in major festivals as:North Sea Jazz Festival (The Netherlands),Steve Reich Festival (Amsterdam), Bratislava Jazz Days (Slovakia), Flamenco Festival Vienna (Austria), Bimhuis Amsterdam,Esplanade Theatre Singapore, Rainforest World-Music Festival (Malaysia).Completed successfully a Masters Degree Program in Jazz Performance at the Royal Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Netherlands, receiving also education at the Banff Centre of Creative Arts(Canada),School for Improvisational Music (New York), Norwegian Music Academy (Oslo), Institute Seni Indonesia.
PENI CANDRARINI (vocals, gender, rebab)
Composer, Songwriter, Poet, Vocalist for Javanese (Sindhen) and Contemporary, Lecturer in the Department of Karawitan, Doctoral Candidate for Creation of Music Art at Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Surakarta. Owner, Founder and Executive Director of Jagad Sentana Art Foundation.She has performed in festivals around the world with renowned international artists, composer, ensembles and projects as:Kronos Quartet (USA), Rahayu Suppangah, among others in festivals as: Mapping Melbourne Fest, Big Ears Fest (USA), Humboldt Forum Berlin, OzAsia (Australia), WOMADelaide (Australia), Europalia (Brussels), Holland Festival, Setouchi Triennial Japan, Ringling Int. Arts Fest (Florida), ASEAN Enchanting Puppets Fest (Chiangmai, Thailand), Jeonju Int. Sori Fest (Korea), HIFA (Africa), World Fest of Sacred Music (Los Angeles, USA), Lincoln Cente White Light Fest (USA). She has also worked in Movies Scoring with international directors as:Nur Hidayat, Garin Nugroho (Setan Jawa with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra). She is one of the ambassadors of Javanese Culture, collaborating with important gamelan orchestras as: Gamelan Widosari Amsterdam, Gamelan Pacifica Seattle, Gamelan Sumunar Minnesota, CAGE cornell Avant Garde Ensemble, Boston Village Gamelan, Gamelan Kusuma Laras New York, Southbank Centre London. Recently in 2023, Peni Candra Rini has received the international Aga Khan Music Awards together other artist as the legendary Zakir Hussain or others.

He has worked with renowned artists as Didi Kempot, Peni Candrarini, Ontosoroh, Endah Laras,..in festivals around the world as:Hong Kong BCA Event,SIPA (Indonesia), Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA, Zimbabwe),Solo City (Indonesia), OzAsia (Adelaide, Australia), IPAM (Brisbane, Australia), WOMAD (Adelaide, Australia),Ubud Writers and Riders Fetival (Bali),CINARS (Montreal, Canada),Ngayogjazz(Indonesia).Plenthe has written books about arts and its impact in society in the eyes of religion.
