THE LANGUAGE OF SOUND
Music is a universal language existing in any culture of the world since the beginning of Humanity. It's is one of the different forms of expressions of the human being that reflects the different feelings, emotions or way of life of the villages and people of the world through its sounds, rhythms, instrumentations, lyrics, dances, etc.
The multicultural flautist Rodrigo Parejo constantly in movement interacting with different cultures between Europe and Asia, has the interest to share some of the musical knowledge and artistic acquired and developed through the years through the different collaborations and experiences lived in some of the different music scenes in the world of jazz, contemporary dance, music therapy and improvised experimental music between Asia, America and Europe.
OBJETIVES
The main intention of this workshop is to show to the participant in an interactive way some resources and ways of practicing and seeing Music from a simple, fun and creative point of view with the interest that these ideas might motivate, inspire and open the mind in order to develop a personal vision and own musical language at the time of creating and composing with any other musician or artist from any other discipline or culture.
Also in this workshop the participant will learn about certain aspects related to the consciousness of the Sound (Listening) and the human emotions in the music, as well some concepts related to composition and improvisation in order to keep awake the music intuition and learning at the end to use Music as an Universal Language that connects people, cultures, etc.
DURATION:
2-8 hours (this workshop might include variations from other workshops related to Conscious Listening and Dance).

- In what could the effect of conscious listening help me for real life?
It can be another way to connect and bring awareness with oneself, with the place, with the moment...the starting point of a journey of meditation.
- Do I need to be a musician to have good ears?
No at all, we would learn to appreciate more details in the hearing of a song, environment,...
- What would I need to bring for this session?
Just yourself, and ready to open the senses, in this case mostly the Ears. It's also a good option to bring a mat, comfort clothe, water, etc.
CONSCIOUS DANCE:
The Conscious Dance sessions intend to invite and guide the participants to listen with more consciousness and sensibility, learning how to appreciate the music in daily life and letting the energy of music move them in order to free themselves, to connect with the inner self, others, the space, etc.
Participant might be dancing with the sound of nature or the body such as the wind, the breathing, the skin, materials as the wood, the silk the iron,...even they might learn to appreciate the nuances and richness of the music existing in the pure Silence. Also, some of the music languages that can be heard in these sessions are related to the sounds of contemporary electronic music, ambient, cinematic music, jazz, ethnic music,…
Improvisation is also an important aspect during this journey keeping the connection and interaction alive between the sound artist and the dancers.

BIOGRAPHY
Rodrigo Parejo (1981), is a multifaceted Spanish jazz musician, improviser, researcher, composer and educator. He is based between The Netherlands and South-East Asia. He has been regularly active in different music scenes of Jazz, World, Contemporary Dance and Experimental Improvised Music between Europe, Asia and US, performing a broad range of styles: from minimalistic meditative solo performances to explosive free-jazz orchestras, contemporary ensembles, ethnic music folk groups, flamenco dance companies, contemporary dance performances, classical, rock, latin, meditation music.
As a freelance musician, he has worked and collaborated with a diverse number of projects and renowned international artists as: Phil Woods, Norma Winstone, London Improvisers Orchestra, Royal Improvisers Orchestra, The Hague Ethospheric Orchestra, Hank Bennink, Michael Moore, Tristan Hotzinger, Phil Minton, Steve Beresford, Jim McNeely, Alex Sipiagin, Lazara López Cachao, Asguest Quintet, Modelo 62, Rianto Mao Arata, Peni Candrarini, Shervin Boolorian,...appearing in major festivals and venues as: North Sea Jazz Festival (The Netherlands) Steve Reich Festival (Amsterdam), Bratislava Jazz Day (Slovakia), Flamenco Festival Vienna (Austria), Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Esplanade Theatre Singapore, Rainforest World-Music Festival (Malaysia), MURFEST (Malaysia), Viktoria Jazzscene (Oslo).
Graduated with Distinction (Bachelor of Arts) and successfully completed a Masters Degree Program in Jazz Performance at the Royal Royal Conservatory in The Hague (The Netherlands), and Masters Degree in Flamenco Music Research at Cadiz University (Spain), he received also music artistic education in different places around the world as: Banff Centre of Creative Arts (Canada), School for Improvisational Music (New York), Norwegian Music Academy (Oslo), Institute Seni Indonesia (Surakarta), Cambodia,... studying with acclaimed international artists as: John Ruocco, Bobby Martínez, Ralph Alessi, Dave Douglas, Tony Malaby, Ben Street, Hein van de Geyn, Don Byron, Joshua Redman, Suprapto.
Besides his performing career activities, he has offered workshops and masterclasses of music Improvisation, Music Meditation and Sound-healing sessions,.... in countries as Singapore, Malaysia, The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic, Cambodia, Indonesia (Lasalle College of Arts, Rainforest World Music Festival, MURFEST Wellness Festival, Yogabarn Bali,...)

EL LENGUAJE DEL SONIDO
La música es un lenguaje universal existente en cualquier cultura del mundo desde los comienzos de la Humanidad. Es una de las diferentes formas de expresión del ser humano que refleja los diferentes sentimientos, emociones, o tipo de vida de los pueblos y gentes del mundo a través de sus sonidos, ritmos, instrumentaciones, letras de canciones, danzas,...
El flautista multicultural extremeño Rodrigo Parejo constantemente en movimiento entre Europa y el Sureste Asiático, tiene el interés de compartir algunos de sus conocimientos musicales y artísticos adquiridos y desarrollados tras las diversas colaboraciones y experiencias vividas en algunas de las distintas escenas musicales del mundo del jazz, danza contemporánea, terapia musical y música experimental improvisada entre Asia, América y Europa.
FINALIDAD
La principal intención de este workshop es mostrar al estudiante de una forma interactiva algunos recursos y formas de practicar y ver la música desde un punto de vista simple, divertido y creativo, con el interés de que estas ideas puedan motivar, inspirar y abrir la mente para poder desarrollar una visión personal y lenguaje musical propio a la hora de crear y componer conjuntamente con cualquier músico o artista de cualquier disciplina o cultura.
Además se pretende trabajar desde un nivel básico algunos aspectos relacionados con la consciencia del sonido (escucha) y las emociones humanas en la música, así como la composición y la improvisación para mantener despierta la intuición musical, además de ser un acercamiento desde la música raíz universal a otras músicas más desarrolladas (como la música contemporánea, música para cine, etc..)
BIOGRAFÍA
Rodrigo Parejo (1981). Músico de jazz extremeño, improvisador, compositor , educador e investigador afincado entre los Países Bajos y el Sureste Asiático. Ha estado activo en algunas de las diferentes escenas musicales del Jazz, Músicas del Mundo, Danza Contemporánea y Música Experimental Improvisada entre Europa, Asia y EE.UU, tratando un amplio rango de estilos, desde actuaciones en solitario a orquestas de free-jazz, ensembles contemporáneos, grupos de música étnica, clásica, rock, música cinemática, danza contemporánea, flamenco.
Como músico independiente, trabajó y colaboró con un diverso número de proyectos y excelentes músicos como: Phil Woods, Norma Winstone, London Improvisers Orchestra, Royal Improvisers Orchestra, The Hague Ethospheric Orquestra, Hank Bennink, Michael Moore, Tristan Hotzinger, Phil Minton, Steve Beresford, Alex Sipiagin, Lázara López Cachao, Modelo 62, Peni Candrarini, Rianto, Saray Muñoz, en prestigiosos festivales como: North Sea Jazz Festival, Steve Reich Festival, Bratislava Jazz Days, Flamenco Festival Vienna, Bimhuis, Esplanade Theater Singapore, Rainforest World-Music Festival, RNE.
Licenciado con honores por musicalidad y Máster en Interpretación de Jazz con buenas críticas por el Real Conservatorio de La Haya (Holanda), recibió además educación musical y artística en lugares como Banff Centre of Arts (Canadá), School for Improvisational Music “CIM” (Nueva York), Norwegian Academy of Music (Oslo), Institute of Arts of Indonesia, Camboya.
Ha ofrecido workshops y clases magistrales de flauta Travesera, músicas del mundo e Improvisación en países como Singapur, Indonesia, Malasia, España, Holanda, Rep.Checa o Camboya.
